Aliens Exist IRC channel is now up! An IRC channel is a place for the community members for chatting, discussing something and getting help & support. Channel rules 1. Speak English. 2. No trolling, swearing or insulting anyone is allowed. 3. Do not impersonate people. 4. Keep drama to PM. #nobodycares is fine too. 5. Don't spam or flood. 6. No bots without staff approval. 7. If you spam somebody through PM, we can do nothing about it. Just remember that C405129 and MiFU can take care about it. 8. Everything you say on IRC can and will be used against you. If you think a rule is missing or you want to remove/change one, feel free to post! How to join If you have an IRC client, you can use the below information to connect OR use the quick join link. If you don't have it, it's time to get one. Alternatively, you can chat in your web browser by going here or using Mibbit. Hostname: irc.rfc1337.net Port: 6667 Channel: #AE Channel Staff Hetor - maintainer, owner/founder. Pilot - owner/founder. JypeK - SOP/admin. ChanServ - network service, OP (duh). AEBot - bot (yet shitty), HOP. ***NOTE TO MIBBIT USERS*** If you want to change your nickname, use the /nick command. Type it right in chat. Example: /nick 1337haxxxz0r will change your nick to 1337haxxxz0r. SETTING UP AN IRC CLIENT FOR NEWBIES You think that mibbit looks like crap? Got tired of it? You need to get an IRC client!. This graphical toturial will show you an easy and fast way to connect to the IRC with XChat (Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, free) or mIRC (Windows, shareware). XChat Sorry for screenshots without windows borders, screenshotter program is being gay >_>. Also note that this appearence is NOT default, I't my own configuration. For default XChat appearence, view the last screenshot. XChat is a compact, highly configurable and userfriendly IRC client which runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. The official Windows version has become shareware, but the source code is still open, so there are few unofficial distributions which are free and legal to download and use. I've included a link to a trusted distribution that I have tested on a virtual machine. Get XChat Fedora Linux: http://www.xchat.org/files/binary/rpm/?M=A Ubuntu, Xubuntu and Linux Mint: Comes preinstalled, available in repositories Kubuntu: Available in repositories Other Linux: http://www.xchat.org/files/source/2.8/?N=D (source code) Windows XP/2000/Vista: Distribution by SilverX http://silverex.info/ Configure XChat Ok, first you need to add Gamers-Union. You will see a window like this at startup. Click the Add button, rename the new network to C4IRC and press enter. Then click on C4IRC and the click edit. Change the first server to irc.rfc1337.net/6667 and add #AE to favorite channels. You can add both servers as well. Don't forget to check "Connect to this network automaticaly". Just like on this screenshot: Save the edits. Now ckeck "skip this list at startup", select Gamers-Union and press connect. You're done! Now whenever you launch XChat, it will automaticaly connect to C4IRC and join #AE. FAQ Q: How do I change my nickname? A: Type /nick yourname in the input box. In XChat you can click on your name near the input box and change it. Q: What is NickServ? A: NickServ is a network service that allows registration and login of nicknames. Q: Why to register? A: If you want to just chat, this is not necessary. If you're going to create own channel or you're #AE OP/Halfop, you should register your nick Q: How do I register/login? A: To register, type /msg NickServ REGISTER password email. To login, type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password. XChat can identify you automaticaly if you spcify NickServ password. Q: What do those +, %, &, @ and ~ mean? A: +, %, &, @ and ~ are modechars. Modechars are characters that informs others about modes that are set on a certain user. + means voiced (can talk), % means halfop, @ means OP (operator), & is SOP (super operator/protected/admin) and ~ is owned/founder. mIRC toturial comming soon, tired atm.
